A Poem From the Barcelona Beach

When the sun is sweltering
She invites us to jump in,
When we can’t stop flapping
She jokes and keeps splashing.

When our pastries join on
She feeds us her sand song,
When we bare no more thirst
She frames the way as headfirst.

When we tell her our secrets
She says they have a sequence,
When we tell her our dreams
She mutters of wild sardines.

When the seasons turn
She always stays firm,
When the days are fast
She smiles at our past.

When we run by her side
She becomes our guide,
When we listen to her hymn
She finds a way to draw us in.

When we meet at her place
She shows us her rock face,
When we see that she’s fun
She makes out we’re all one.

When we never want to leave
She yells, don’t please,
When we see her as a friend
She admires the story that has no end.
