I sat last night on a roof terrace with a very dear friend Benjamin Swatez. This friend of mine is very special because his heart is explosive and his mind is amazing. As we usually do, we deep dived into a sentimental chat and happened to land on the full moon. Together we realised that it was in fact a lunar eclipse accompanied by an astounding close up visit from Mars, so our chat developed from there.
I was personally drawn in by her orange face and the way she seems to look as though she’s blowing a love hearted kiss just like the WhatsApp emoji. I always feel upliftment from the full moon and she typically feeds my mind with crisp and clear thought. But last night I left my own mind alone for a change and took more interest in the mind of Benjamin who uncovered some beautiful insights.
It started when he told me that he saw a bunny rabbit in the full moon. “I’ve been seeing that since I was three years old,” he added. With his wondrous tone and grand open smile he said, “It’s a blue grey bunny rabbit composed of shadows fluffy and soft. It’s where the divine feminine rests at night.”
Well, with that sweet opening, I wanted to pick his brain some more. “What a beautiful connection you have to the moon Benjamin.” I said, eyes open wide.
“Sure, my faith in relationships came while listening to the conversation between the glowing ball in the night sky and the bright star that never leaves her side. No joke.” He added. “My favourite moments are when I deeply gaze into the elegant life of my lover as the moonlight reflects in her softened eyes.”
I knew he was a romantic but this talk was priceless coming from a very decent man so I let him carry on.
“The symbiotic dialogue between day and night, life and death and light and dark exists within the conversation the sun and the moon dance between. This friendship is all within you. Just like the masculine and feminine of every being, the setting sun knows, the goddess moon will surely glow.”
I thought I was the poet but this painter was giving me a good run for my money.
“The moon does not exert her own light, she reflects the light of the sun. This reminds me that we are reflections of each other. And there’s no scarecity of light. There is enough light for all of us. As the moon is the queen of the night and the sun is the king of the day, the 24 hour sky, a grain of sand, it’s all in the palm of one’s hand. Now claim your throne Anneka. Exclamation point.”
“Thanks Benjamin, I’ll do just that. Please can you sum up your full moon thoughts?” I rolled it back to him.
“Dancing on the midnight street, these are the fleeting moments. Soul’s royalty we meet, take a deep breath and embrace the divine components.” He played.
As I sat and pondered those components that appeared from those brilliant imprints, I looked at him, then back at the moon and remembered that all along I’d had an inner strength within.
As the stars were shooting across the sky and the orange eclipse began to wane, I was grateful for Benjamin’s company, the chats we had about the sum total of life and his creative days under the moonlight of Barcelona. I was also inspired by the way he initiates projects with children facing extreme adversity around the world. He told me that everyone under moon deserves freedom and that we should chose it within, embrace it and be it.
I was left more than satisfied by that and the healing energy of July’s full moon. So whether she’s actually a bunny rabbit, a kissing emoji or simply a man fishing up above, the moon was certainly feeding our soul’s with unconditional love, and as Benjamin said himself, revealing our talents and inviting us to raise to the challenge.
I loved that exchange last night and I’m honoured to share his wisdom’s with you through our wellness blog.
