For more than 40 years, Dr. Teresa Castells, owner of La Pedrera Pharmacy, has developed more than 200 formulas to help her clients take care of themselves, creating specialized products according to their needs. It all started with specific requests, a shampoo with jojoba oil for dry hair, a facial moisturizer based only on plants and other products that their clients could not find for sale. And so time went by, until she created her own cosmetic line, both facial, body and hair.

Teresa obtained the pharmacy license in 1983, located on Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona, in front of La Pedrera-Casa Milà. "Paseo de Gracia was very different from what it is now. There were many banks and few stores. Over time, the banks moved and stores, most of them luxury, began to set up shop. There were also many homes that little by little They made way for the offices."

The laboratory, located above the pharmacy, was enough to start making the formulas, but everything was very manual and simple. At first, Teresa made the larger formulas (shampoo, body wash, etc.) when she was on night shift, which was every 16 days. Those with less volume, during store hours. These first products were very well received by customers, a fact that encouraged Teresa to continue with her passion: helping her customers feel better.

Between 1998 and 2000 the pharmacy building had to be restored and the pharmacy closed. During this time, Teresa presented her doctorate obtaining an excellent cumlaude. Teresa received the European Forum award in 2010.

In 2018 and 2019 her children, who since they were little had been watching their mother formulate all types of cosmetics and nutricosmetics, also started working in the pharmacy. Norbert, a chemical engineer and Mercé, a pharmacist.

Over time, they decided to professionalize production, giving rise to Farmacia Barcelona, a cosmetic brand that is sold all over the world. With more than tens of thousands of products sold, it is positioned as a solid solution that covers facial, body and hair needs.
