From the greatest lover on Sant Jordi

As I made my way to Farmacia Barcelona on the acclaimed Passeig de Gracia, I noted the entire street filled with books and roses. Of course, a romantic never forgets Sant Jordi, a most important day in the Catalan calendar.

The day, as it ought to be, is set in stone as its tradition stems from various facts and figures about love, romance, culture and a lot of interesting history.

As it stands, the 23rd April is the day that both world renowned writers Miguel de Cervantes and Shakespeare died. Not so haphazardly, these deaths also gave birth to the UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day. Much more than just these lovely synchronicities, it also happens to be the day that the great romantic and Patron Saint of Catalunya died – Sant Jordi (St George). All of this unforgotten love and literature is the very reason why the day of the lovers exists and is celebrated with full fertility in the delightfully loving streets of Catalunya.

Tradition has it that men present women with a rose and women present men with a book in honour of their everlasting love. However, I received an extraordinary gift today. It came from my greatest lover. This lover also seems to work in a mysterious fashion. Its communication came to me today in the form of a printed message. This is what that message said…..

Good Morning Miss Lott

I’d like to wish you nothing but love on the day of the Book and the Rose.

I’m writing to you because I’m your greatest lover. I’m also a real writer and for that, I’m qualified to write my own words on the day of the writers and the lovers.

I’m not here to hand you a rose nor even to ask for a book. I’m here to present you with a real kind of love instead. This type of love is one that places no expectation, no question and no harm in the process. I write to you with the most respectful form of love of all; its form is what you will see as I continue on.

You will hear me when I tell you that I’m your greatest lover and you will trust me because I’m never wrong.

Just like all the great poets, I’ve also used an ancient form of expression so that you can understand me. Now please, go and sit back on the grass of Ciutadella Park (I know it’s one of your favourites places) and delight in reading a poem I’ve written especially for you…..

Have you seen yourself lately?
Flicking sand from your toes
Sitting in your decadent pose
Chatting with sincere prose

What do I see?
Jiggling as you’re giggling
Prancing as you’re dancing
Shining as you’re smiling

Do you remember?
Giving your loving hand
Sharing your favourite band
Being the one to understand

What are your traits?
Cooking every morning
Seeing all as adoring
Failing to be boring

Have you seen your soul?
Running through the mountains
Savouring the planets plantains
Pouring love like endless fountains

What’s in it for me?
Nothing really
I simply admire your dignity
I simply delight in your divinity

Please don’t deny me
I’m your greatest lover
I’m like no other

Please say you hear me
I’m your best friend
I’m here until the end

Here’s the secret
I’m your heart
We’ll never be apart

Until next time, Your greatest lover @->->–

Just like that. My greatest lover happens to be my heart, and my heart tells me that it loves me like no other. It loves me unconditionally. It also tells me that I should go and find a real book for a real man <3 so I went and did just that!

What does your greatest lover say to you today and every day? Whatever it is I’m sure it’s the God’s honest truth

@->->–

We wish you as always, health, happiness and above all, love on the day of Sant Jordi.

Your everloving team at Farmacia Barcelona and your great lover, Anneka Lott
