Touched by the cactus garden

Believe it or not, almost everyone that touched my path in these last few months had something to say about hell. Honestly, it almost felt as though an energetic storm had passed through the earth and swept everyone up inside of it.

It’s been having me somewhat concerned about the suffering of our fellow men, which led me on to wonder what this could mean.

Perhaps it was a mere coincidence or a figment of my imagination, I thought. Or perhaps there’s been a mass collective clean up with the help of some divine intervention, I continued to dream. Either way, it had my heart racing.

Then, last weekend, I took a stroll through the cactus garden of Barcelona (named Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens). And although it officially opened in March 1970, the garden seems to hold an essence that I can only imagine came from the passionate founders, architect Joaquim Maria Casamor and the gardening-school teacher, Joan Pañella.

Thanks to the love they invested, the 3.16 hectares of exotic garden now hosts a wonderful variety of plants and cacti, oozing the tropics and oozing the mountains and oozing a feeling of power.

While the colours pounded my senses and the energy pierced my mind, I made my way over to relax in the sculptors square to ponder. There I found the lacemaker sculpture (sculpted by Josep Viladomat) lacing its way through my thoughts as the cacti stood strong around us.

What I was invested in myself was how the cacti could stay so strong and endure the weathers and the storms, and always coming out on top. I suspected that it was connected to the strength of their internal world, and the thorns of their exterior, rendering them free of exterior pain. Much like the auric field of the people that hold dignity inside, rendering them free of suffering.

I didn’t realise until then how inspiring the cactus garden could be in showing us how to live better. I mean, despite life’s hells and stormy rides, how fruitful it could be to stand strong, hold yourself together and know that the pain will pass.

And so we leave you with that message. In your hours of need and moments of hell, remember the grace and beauty of the cacti on the Montjuïc mountain in Barcelona.

We hope that they bring you inner peace and plenty of strength.

With love, Anneka and Farmacia Barcelona
